Unleash Your Creativity,
apply for a SLEA Grant!

Digital arts are a reality. But just like the classical arts, they require resources to implement ideas. How many times have you thought “If only I had more prims, a bigger space to create my artistic project” ?
This opportunity is in partnership with Linden Lab to foster the Arts in Second Life.
It is open to artists at any skill level to learn, share, create, and exhibit art!

SLEA is the acronym for Second Life Endowment for The Arts. SLEA is a public arts initiative developed in partnership with Linden Lab. It is a multi-region experience that aims to provide opportunities for the work of both established and emerging artists in Second Life.

SLEA awards land grants provided by Linden Lab to qualified individuals.

It also offers the “Bridge”: an information HUB that represents galleries and art venues to help draw attention to the arts community in Second Life. In addition, SLEA reaches out to new residents to help them discover the arts in Second Life and all the creative tools that are offered so that a new generation of creativity will unfold.

Last but not least, SLEA provides numerous opportunities for larger and smaller exhibitions, performances and experiments.

Going forward, it is SLEA’s intention to continue with positive growth, transparency, upgrades and fresh faces and projects involving Second Life art venues and artists.
SLEA currently actively supports many art forms, including 3D and 2D visual arts, music, theater, machinima and poetry, but we are open to support new initiatives and art forms!

New volunteers are always welcomed to join and help collectively maintain this very unique art community.

Any resident young or old with a passion for the arts is welcome to contribute ideas that will continue to keep the main region of SLEA interesting and updated for all who visit.

Grant Artist Q&A

Is the use of 3rd party objects and / or scripts allowed?
The use of 3rd party objects and /or scripts is allowed only if there is a poster thanking all content creators (not individually) but acknowledging them for helping to create the art. We highly encourage all original art but understand the levels of SL Art.

Do applications have to be presented by only one person or can it be a collective project?
Applications can be by a single individual, team or group. The primary participant names should be included.

Who will be my SLEA contact?
Each region has a SLEA Liaison assigned to it to assist you. Once you have been granted a grant you will be introduced to your Liaison.
